Montes Photography Session and Classical Musician Photography

Recently I had the pleasure to photograph one of my friends (Ricardo Montes) and his family from way back in High School. Unfortunately after high school we lost touch with each other. Thanks to Facebook we reconnected in the last year. I discovered that he was married to a beautiful and sweet lady (Sandra) and has two amazing kids. Ricardo and Sandra booked me for two back to back days of photography for his personal family session (nuclear family) and his extended family session with his brother, parents, grandmother and aunt. We had an amazing time shooting all across San Diego including various locations along the water front from Chula Vista to Point Loma to Ocean Beach. It was amazing.

One of the things that stood out as very important was that Ricardo wanted to capture some incredible imagery of his son who is classical violinist. I had seen a couple of snap shots of him on Facebook but I knew we could take the imagery much further. I wanted something scenic and grandiose that any professional classical musician (or any other musician) would be envious to have for their portfolio or album covers. I had certain imagery come to mind which I suggested to Ricardo and it worked out perfectly. One of my favorite movies is the true epic drama Lawrence Of Arabia. Now most people wouldn't think that one could capture a scenic shot of that caliber in San Diego without leaving to the desert but I did. I knew exactly what I wanted and I got it. Its just one of those ways my brain works and making my thought pattern very visual, creative and detailed by utilizing small spaces or large scenic views. It is the last image featured in this brief showing of my favorite images that I captured of his son.

Later there will be perhaps more images to show here as well as on Facebook when Ricardo & Sandra can figure out which of their over 100 favorite images from their session they have to narrow down. Yes that happens quite frequently. I turn out an extremely high number of amazing and great shots for my clients. As a result it takes them quite some time to pick out there all time favorites from their favorites but then I also help guide them through the process too.

Thank you again Ricardo for this wonderful opportunity to reconnect with you and your family. It was truly my pleasure and I look forward to continuing our friendship and connection with your family. It was one of my most rewarding experiences in my photography career to this day. I look forward to creating an album cover to feature your sons musical talent in the future!

Please enjoy these wonderful shots of an aspiring and talented classical violinist on the coastline of San Diego at sunset.

Mandi & Mario's Engagment Session & Wedding Photography

Recently I have had the pleasure to meet Mandi and Mario. We met because Mandi was looking for a great wedding photographer for her day but also for a reasonable package. It ends up we all hit it off very well and she selected me as her Wedding Photographer. Mandi loved my photos and also booked an engagement session to go with her wedding package.

We all took our time to review different locations but decided to something with a non coastal look for her engagement session because we are going to host her wedding and bridal photos up in Palos Verdes. I expect that we should get some great coastal scenic shots that day. So as a result we went for the Mountain look for her session to keep things creative and different. Its how I work so everything isn't canned and its more fun in the approach. They both did great and their portraits turned out fantastic. It made it easy because we all shared fun and laughs through the entire session. Its about having a great time and the photos just along naturally with it.

Please enjoy some favorite samples from the shoot!!

Kristina & Oscar's Maternity Session

Recently I had the pleasure to meet & photograph Kristina and Oscar for her Maternity Session. When Oscar called to inquire about our services we spent a little time together talking about options and what locations were best for them. They definitely wanted to something on location and gorgeous. Something to take it outside of the norm. Kristina had missed the opportunity with her first pregnancy so I wanted to make sure she had a fabulous experience and wonderful adventure. I planned it out for location that would yield gorgeous shots, be easy for her to locate and provide plenty of support for her personal comfort and just in case medical support because she was extremely close to her birth date. As she said I am due any day.... Yeah that got a fire lit in my skull about doing everything to the best level for her comfort, happiness, and safety. We nailed it and she loved them! In Kristina's words: They are gorgeous and I love them! Everyone loves the pictures!

I am proud to have made her happy, made some new friends and created a lifetime of wonderful images and memories for her.

The Amazing People of Enagic - Kangen Water

I have had many positive experiences in my professional career as a photographer but my experience with the folks at Enagic has truly been amazing. Enagic specializes in creating quality, long lasting water ionizers for the health-conscious consumer. Enagic has a wonderfully talented and great spirited group of people. I had the pleasure and opportunity to photograph their President Katsumasa Isobe, their Global Training Director Don Prosser, and their Education Department Director Gotaro Hamagawa. It was day of adventure for sure. We were originally scheduled just to photograph Mr. Isobe but things were going so well and everyone was having such a great time we added on both Don and Go... That's a true positive sign of a fun and adventurous shoot for everyone. We created a studio setup at their location and did outdoor work as well. All around it was loads of fun. I really have to thank Mayumi White of Enagic for making it all possible. Mayumi is the Secretary of National Sales and discovered me. We have all had a fantastic relationship and it continues through our photo coverage another major event for them. It was their Train the Trainers Event in Redondo Beach CA at the Crown Plaza Hotel. All photographs are available for viewing at Our Instaproofs Proofing Site http://erikrsotophotography.instaproofs.com/.

It has been amazing experience getting to know so many people from Enagic. I even did an impromptu engagement session for a couple from Enagic the next morning after the Trainer's event! It has certainly been one of the best experiences and the water is amazing too!

Please enjoy these Rockstar Corporate Headshot Photography Spreads for Mr. Isobe, Don Prosser and Go Hamagawa.

Fast and Healthy Lunch - Carne Asada Spring Mix Salad and Food Photographs too!!

Todays' fast and healthy lunch is Carne Asada Spring Mix Salad with Queso Fresco, Persian Cucumbers, Japanese Enoki Mushrooms, and my Russian River Chardonnay Salad Dressing.

Make sure you sear your meat on very high heat or grill on high heat. This is the best way to get texture and crispy edges, depth of flavors and keep the meat juicy too!!

Let your meat rest a little bit before cutting so it doens't let out all its juices but don't let it get cold either. The hot steak makes the salad.

As always I love to combine my photography with my cooking. Its two of my favorite things!! It was very hard to take a few minutes to get the photograph. I could hardly wait!!

Enjoy!! (The photograph and the salad recipe)

Sea Mist Russian River Valley 2009 Chardonnay to Make a Favorite Low Glycemic Salad Dressing and fun with Food Photography

Here's a great use of your wine as it gets past its time for drinking. Make a great salad dressing out of it with a mason jar. Mason Jars are well reputed for preserving foods and for drinking but they are really fantastic at making dressings too. This dressing used a Russian Red River Wine a little past its time but fantastic for making a dressing because its not too acidic (vinegary) and not completely wine either. Makes it smooth and delicious. It will be used on a thinly sliced cabbage and greens salad with herb roasted Dover sole soon.

For the recipe I am not gonna give you all the quantities. You will have to figure it out. I just went by instinct again without measuring.

Ingredients:

Sea Mist Russian River Valley 2009 Chardonnay (your favorite getting older wine or just whatever regular wine you have too)
Olive Oil (I like Trader Joe's Spanish Olive Oil. Its a little spicier with more taste)
Garlic Powder
Cumin
Oregano
Thyme
Vegetable Glycerin (its great because its low glycemic sweetner and diabetic friendly)
Fresh Crushed Black Pepper
Fresh Grated Ginger
Ground Himalayan Pink Salt

Add 1 Part of your wine to the jar. Add approximately 1/2 or 1/3 part of your olive oil. Add your all your ingredients to taste.

Seal your jar and let somebody shake it like mad. Your kids will love shaking it up!!

Sample with a chopstick or other kitchen device. Test to see if it needs to be sweeter or if you like it spicier etc..) Adjust as necessary.

Seal and keep in the fridge. You will love it and it will be better than those $6 or $8 dressings and healthier for you too. It only costs pennies!! Plus its your creation!!

Keep creating and have fun experimenting!!

Spring, Summer and Hot Weather Refreshing Drinks - My Water Infusion Delight & Food Photography

Yesterday was a hot, dry and very parching. It certainly felt like a day for a fresh water infusion beverage and a couple of cool product photographs too. So I took out one of my favorite decanters and made this nice mix of Persian Cucumber, Fresh Mint, Sage and a small bit of Rosemary. Yes I said Rosemary & Sage. If they are young and very fresh they are not quite as intense but very refreshing. Using young rosemary and sage is the key to invigorating your drink but not overpowering it. Its really a treat to have fresh herbs growing in your patio. Try this out and you will love how refreshing, clean and invigorating it tastes... One extra IMPORTANT HINT is to lightly muddle your herbs. Don't pulverize them (especially the rosemary). You just need to release the oils to increase the savor. Its really a no calorie drink too!! Enjoy!!!
