Erik R. Soto Photography Receives 2015 Best of Torrance Award

Torrance Award Program Honors the Achievement

TORRANCE July 16, 2015 -- Erik R. Soto Photography has been selected for the 2015 Best of Torrance Award in the Photographers category by the Torrance Award Program.

Each year, the Torrance Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Torrance area a great place to live, work and play.

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2015 Torrance Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Torrance Award Program and data provided by third parties.

Kristina & Oscar's Maternity Session

Recently I had the pleasure to meet & photograph Kristina and Oscar for her Maternity Session. When Oscar called to inquire about our services we spent a little time together talking about options and what locations were best for them. They definitely wanted to something on location and gorgeous. Something to take it outside of the norm. Kristina had missed the opportunity with her first pregnancy so I wanted to make sure she had a fabulous experience and wonderful adventure. I planned it out for location that would yield gorgeous shots, be easy for her to locate and provide plenty of support for her personal comfort and just in case medical support because she was extremely close to her birth date. As she said I am due any day.... Yeah that got a fire lit in my skull about doing everything to the best level for her comfort, happiness, and safety. We nailed it and she loved them! In Kristina's words: They are gorgeous and I love them! Everyone loves the pictures!

I am proud to have made her happy, made some new friends and created a lifetime of wonderful images and memories for her.

Manhattan Beach Sunset

A few days ago I had a chance to photograph a beautiful sunset. I loved how the sun set over the pier and had to snap a few photos.

What questions do I ask my wedding photographer?

Do you know what to ask your wedding photographer?

Its crucial to ask the right questions when picking a photographer for your wedding or event. There are many concerns you may have when selecting a wedding photographer. First, you should like the style and displayed pictures that you've seen from that photographer. Next, you need a photographer that can also fit within your budget. If you are in love with a certain photographer's work but they won't budge on the price, you'll have to cut costs somewhere else.

Above and beyond these questions, be sure to find a photographer you have chemistry with. After all, you are going to be spending a lot of time with this person. You should be comfortable and at ease with who ever you choose.

1. Do you have photos of entire weddings that I can see?
2. Do you have references I can call?
3. Do you post the proofs online, or will I receive negatives/CD?
4. Who will be photographing my wedding?
5. When will my proofs, prints, and wedding album be available?
6. How many pictures will you take?
7. What happens if you show up late or can’t make it to the wedding?
8. Can I see a sample contract?
9. Are you part of any professional associations,
or do you have extra training in your field?
10. Do you have liability insurance?
11. What type of cameras do you use, and will you have any backups in case something breaks or doesn’t work?
13. What do you charge for overtime/travel?
14. How long does that gallery stay online?
15. What kind of equipment do you use?
16. Will you book another wedding for my day?
17. How far in advance do we need to make a deposit and hire you?
18. What resolution image CD do you provide?
19. What is your cancellation policy?
20. Do you work alone or have an assistant or second shooter? How much is a second
shooter

Any professional photographer should be happy to answer these or any questions you ask. Before you finalize any contract, be sure to carefully read everything that is written in it. Clarify everything you discussed and want is in the contract, or you won't be guaranteed to receive it. Pay attention to the time constraints, travel, and other items in the package so you know what to expect. Overestimate the time period needed because of travel requirements or if you're running late. Often couples should expect to add another 2 hours on for photographer than what they have planned for the day. This will take away some of the worry so you can enjoy the big day.

Overall, as long as you like the photographer's style, price, and personality (professionalism), your wedding pictures should turn out beautifully.
